Reduced to a Star

Inspired by The 100 series by Kass Morgan
The sun looked different from Earth. I saw things I only dreamed about. The trees looked so green, the water felt so cold, the deer had two heads, and home was reduced to a star.
The 100 became my home. We argued, we fought, and we killed. We sided with people we thought didn’t exist. We were leaders; I was the head and he was the heart as we fought to make Earth our home. Some didn’t agree with the way we chose to live, so we had to keep fighting. I bore the pain and the consequences of my choices so they didn’t have to. They deserved to enjoy each moment because happiness felt better on Earth.
But some would always disagree with the way we lived. They attacked, they kidnapped, our community in flames because they believed themselves superior. So, we stood again, desperate to rescue our families, and surprised by our new definitions of home.
Our home was reduced to a star until it came crashing down. We created a new one on Earth, and no one would take it away.
I got used to the trees— we use them to make houses. I love the plants and the way they heal. I love the water, even when it’s ice cold. I found a new family, and I found a purpose.
The sun still looks different from Earth, but I could get used to the view.
