A Rambling Round-Story

A message from our President:

As part of our efforts to become more active as an organization, the English Society has decided to do something different during our meetings each week. This past week, the advisor of Ferris State University's chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society, spoke at our meeting. When she finished, I decided to do something a little fun with the time we had left: a round-story.

For anyone unfamiliar with the idea of a round-story, it is where one person begins a story by saying a sentence. Others in the group then take turns adding on to the story one sentence at a time. This type of storytelling is particularly entertaining because you never know what is going to happen. You could end up with a story of any genre. It could be a very serious tale, or something so outrageous you cannot help but laugh as the tale is told. This is one such story.

I give you the English Society’s first creation, “A Vampire Romance.”

Richard stared longingly at Elizabeth’s swan-like neck. Elizabeth was the Garlic he had fallen in love with. Richard wished that he could go up to her and bite her. You could almost call it a deathly kiss. He could not, however, because she reeked of garlic and he was allergic.

But his love is too strong. He does not care, he will deal with the consequences. His throat closed, the swelling becoming too strong. His teeth sank in delicately. Once he got the taste of garlic he pulled out slightly, but went back for more because she is mesmerizing. He closed his eyes and woke up in a therapist’s office.

The therapist wished he could understand what was wrong with Richard, because he was in fact not a vampire. He was just a man addicted to garlic pills. And he would see him again next week with the same issue.

What did you think? If you could add any sentence to our rambling round-story, what would it be? Let us know in the comments below!
